Assistant Professor in English Linguistics - University of Antwerp
[R]ecommended for anyone interested in temporality and crosslinguistic semantics.
De Wit has managed to something remarkable,
which is to construct a comparative analysis of an underexamined issue of tense and aspect that has typological promise.

Curriculum Vitae
About me
I hold a BA in Linguistics and Literature (English and Dutch) from the University of Antwerp (2007), an MA in Linguistics from the University of Antwerp (2008), a Research MA in Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam (2010), and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Antwerp (2014). In the academic year 2014-2015, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Linguistics at the University of Colorado at Boulder under a one-year fellowship granted by the Belgian American Educational Foundation. From 2015 until August 2018, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Linguistics (research group LaDisco) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles by virtue of a three-year grant from the National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS).
As of 1 October 2018 I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor in English Linguistics at the University of Antwerp and its Grammar and Pragmatics research center.

In my monograph The Present Perfective Paradox across Languages, published with OUP and reviewed in Language 94(2), Folia Linguistica 52(2) and Voprosy Jazykoznanija 2018(5), I analyze how speakers of languages with diverse aspect systems report present-time situations. Apart from that, I have published on tense, aspect, modality and mirativity in a variety of edited volumes and peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Linguistics, Language and Cognition and Studies in Language.

I am the syntax, semantics and typology editor for the Elsevier open-access journal Ampersand.
